Defender Series. This is the complete concealed carry series of trainings to include: Firearm Basics (Proper Fit & Gear), Violent Encounters and the Aftermath, Developing a Personal Protection Plan, Defensive Pistol with Less than Lethal Options + “Parking Lot Tactics”, the Legal Use of Force and a one-on-one training session with Firearms Trainer Cindy Frost to complete your live fire range qualifier. With successful completion of these course modules + demonstration of firearm safe handling and proficiency, students will receive a certificate of completion to submit with the county as a necessary step towards obtaining their Concealed Carry Permit. If you already have your permit, this training will still be tremendously beneficial. Please call or text if you have further questions: (406) 961-5375. The range portion will be held at a private facility to ensure the best possible experience. It will be scheduled at a suitable time for each attendee, not to exceed three weeks after the last module unless a plan is made ahead of time. We are happy to work with you! If you need additional range time and training beyond the one hour, we are happy to provide it at the rate of $70 each extra hour needed. Most beginner level students benefit from one hour of additional time. Most intermediate+ level students readily complete the course of fire within the one-hour session. The Montana Enhanced Permit is now available upon request! It requires a 98-round course of fire. This is a significant increase over the 21-round requirement for the Standard Permit. The content we have taught within this series has always been sufficient for the concept training requirements. Students may need additional time to complete the Enhanced requirement. Additional range time is available at $70 per hour.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
Each week we will cover a different topic to move through the five different modules. Week 1: Firearm Basics Week 2: Violent Encounters & the Aftermath Week 3: Developing a Personal & Home Protection Plan Week 4: Defensive Pistol Week 5: The Legal Use of Force
There’s more to come in Week 5! This sets us apart from many other trainers… You are here to learn, and we take that earnest desire to heart.
Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals with Simulations
This real-world self-defense scenario training on week five is designed to improve your mindset and skills, regardless of experience level or background. It is conducted in a safe and controlled environment. You can practice making split-second decisions, which will help you to understand the legal use of force. This is one of the most practical and effective ways to recognize when — or if — the use of deadly force is justified. Test your knowledge and learn from realistic situations that you could encounter in your daily life. Simulation training scenarios activate students’ mental and physical responses to mimic real self-defense scenarios, giving you a deeper understanding of how you’ll react under pressure.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to have a handgun already to participate? No. Week 1 will help you understand what to look for and why when making the important decision about what to purchase & carry.
What is the minimum age to attend this series? Mature 16 years of age and up are welcome to attend but we are willing to have a conversation about your specific situation. If a minor is to attend, a guardian must register to accompany and join the training.
What other Equipment or Gear is Needed? We offer loaners of eye and ear protection that is cleaned after each use. This allows you to experience the sport/training without an enormous investment at the onset. Trying before buying is always a great idea! With that experience under you, we encourage you to then invest in the necessary equipment to continue your training journey in the safest manner.
What about the range? The range is located outdoors and onsite. We are blessed with a private small range where we have privacy to address your specific training needs without an audience. The range portion of the training is 1:1…. Meaning you will have the undivided attention of a skilled coach to best assist you as you learn and progress. KNOW this: accessing our range requires a short walk downhill to reach (about 100 yards total). If you are mobility challenged, we can work together to come up with an alternative range location. The closest public range is Whittecar. Regardless of where we train, we tell students to wear footwear and clothing to match the weather and wear shoes that have good support and tread.
Should I Take this Series if I’m Brand New to Firearms? Yes, most definitely! You will learn so much and be the better for it as this is a comprehensive series. We love that you want to be educated about this important and highly consequential endeavor!
Should I Take this Series if I Already Have My Permit? It has been our experience that regardless of your prior training, you WILL learn something! Check our reviews to see what people are saying about their training experience here with us. We believe that learning is a lifelong endeavor!
